Hand in Hand Afghanistan Organization conducts stakeholders engagement meeting in Balkh province

Hand in Hand Afghanistan Organization conducted a stakeholders engagement meeting to present the achievements of its projects during 2020 to the partners and stakeholders.
In this event, Director of Labor and Social Affairs, Director of Women’s Affairs, Director of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Departments, representatives from active civil society organizations, media, community elders and project beneficiaries participated.
HIHAO presented the projects’ results and achievements to the participants which were followed by speeches from, Mr. Matiullah Matin, Director of Balkh Labour and Social Affairs department, Mrs. Shahla Hadid Director of Balkh Women’s Affairs Department and Mr. Saalim Saaie Director of Balkh Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Department. They appreciated the HIHAO’s work and acknowledged the impacts of the projects on lives of rural communities and said “lack of skills and employment are the main reasons for corruption, migration, drug addiction and poverty; HIHAO supported the poor and vulnerable women to establish enterprises and jobs that resulted in increased household income and improved livelihoods for their households in target communities.”
This event also marked the conclusion of the following three projects:
Empowering Women in Afghanistan (Dec 2018 – Dec 2020)
Socio-Economic Empowerment of Women and Men (Jan 2017 – Dec 2020)
Reducing Poverty through Entrepreneurship and Female Empowering (Jan 2019 – Dec 2020)
Ms. Masoma, one of the project beneficiaries from Abu Talib area of Mazar city spoke about her experience of joining the project and how far she has come. She said, “now I have my own business and make a monthly income of around AFN 8,000 and I feel proud to help my family financially.” On behalf of the project beneficiaries, Masoma thanked Hand in Hand Afghanistan and its donors for their support.
