About Hand in Hand Afghanistan Organization:
Hand in Hand Afghanistan Organization (HIHAO) is a not-for-profit organization based in Afghanistan. It started operations in 2007. HIHAO is part of the international Hand in Hand (HiH) network of independent organizations, working together towards a shared vision to alleviate poverty through job creation. The overall Hand in Hand mission is to promote the economic and social empowerment of women, by supporting the creation of sustainable enterprises, improved livelihoods, and jobs.
HIHAO has implemented projects funded by DFID, European Union, CAFOD, WFP, GIZ, USAID, World Bank, DANIDA, Sida, Hilti foundation, UNOCHA, UNFAO, IRC, UN Women and Hand in Hand International through its main office in Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh province of Afghanistan.
Supporting vulnerable returnee women through skills development and entrepreneurial support in Herat province of Afghanistan is a one-year project with the financial support of Hand in Hand International to implement in Herat city and Injil district of Herat province.
Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Assistant is overall responsible for the project implementation, managing day-to-day activities and liaise with sector stakeholders, represents HIHAO and the project in Herat province.
The Project Assistant will perform the following duties with transparency and integrity, and in adherence to the policies as provided by the HIHAO.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Project Assistant will work under direct supervision of the project manager and assists the project manager in daily management of the project operations.
Project implementation
- Assist in project planning, scheduling, and coordination of activities.
- Support in preparing project reports, documentation, and presentations.
- Maintain and update project files, databases, and correspondence.
- Assist in procurement, logistics, and coordination with vendors.
- Support field teams by providing necessary documents, materials, and updates.
- Participate in project monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Assist in financial tracking, expense reporting, and budget monitoring.
- Communicate with project stakeholders, including beneficiaries and partners.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor regulations.
MIS and Program:
- Collect, compile, analyze and enter all group and members data into the Management. Information System (MIS) including Member’s Bio-data and group’s regular meeting records and annual review according to specified MIS procedures.
- Help implement project activities in the targeted communities of Herat province – including but not limited to: planning of field staff, facilitating trainings and distributing of inputs.
- Assist and train Village Enterprise Facilitators on using of MIS forms for data collection in coordination with MEAL team.
- Ensure that all MIS data is accurately entered in to the system and ensure that reports are available any time.
Job Requirements:
- Diploma on any related field, university degree on Business Administration is an advantage.
- 2 years of work experience, experience in similar position and project will be preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, self-starter and able to work independently.
- Good computer skills especially in Microsoft Office package, knowledge of IT would be an advantage.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and proven ability to follow procedures, complete tasks, meet deadlines and work well under pressure in a cooperative, team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of office administration and bookkeeping procedures.
- Ability to travel to project site in target communities of Herat province.
