Nabila Mohibi, a 26-year-old woman from District 7 of Balkh Province and a member of the Patoni Self-Help Group in Kart-e-Adalat, has achieved remarkable success through perseverance and hard work. She is an educated woman and responsible for a three-member family.
Nabila joined Hand in Hand Afghanistan’s women empowerment project with the motivation to advance her tailoring career and improve her social relationships. She shared, “The reason for joining this project was to learn the necessary skills and knowledge to start my tailoring enterprise.” The support and consent of her husband were crucial to her success on this journey.
Nabila expresses her deep gratitude to Hand in Hand Afghanistan for supporting women in becoming self-sufficient. She emphasizes, “This organization should launch new projects to empower more deprived women in Afghanistan.”
Through the program, Nabila learned how to become independent and add value to her craft. She says, “I learned a lot from the Hand in Hand trainers—how to stand on my own feet, not rely on my husband and others, how to work outside the home, how to find a market for my products, and how to attract more customers.”
Nabila dreamed of becoming the group secretary and encouraging more women to learn tailoring skills and start their enterprises. She proudly shares, “Fortunately, this happened. I became the group secretary and also an instructor in the tailoring class, training other women and sharing my knowledge and skills with them.”
With the income from her enterprise, Nabila has been able to cover her household expenses. She explains, “I use my earnings to buy clothes and food for myself and pay for my daughter’s expenses. I also contribute to the household expenses with my husband.”
Looking to the future, Nabila has big plans to expand her business and create employment opportunities for more women. She declares, “My goal and plan for the future is to grow my business and create jobs for more women.”
Nabila’s message to other women is clear: “Never think you are weak. Always stay positive, and strive to stand on your own feet, not relying on others.”
Nabila Mohibi’s success story is a powerful example of the strength of will and effort in overcoming life’s challenges.
