HIH AF BEATS POVERTY THROUGH FORMATION OF SHGs AND ENTERPRISES
Hand in Hand Afghanistan has started mobilization in Chimtal district of Balkh province under the project named “Socio-Economic Empowerment of Women and Men” and so far 606 (78% women) members have been mobilized in to 38 Self-Help Groups (SHGs). These SHGs will be trained and capacitated throughout the project to support and empower rural women and men in order to create jobs and increase household income by establishing micro-enterprises.
“We are confident that this project will change our lives” said Ms. Arezo one of the beneficiaries. Sar Asiab Community Leader Mr. Toryalai addressing people said “I know how HiH Af has improved lives of people in other districts, I always wanted them to work in our villages, now that they are here so take active part in the project”. At the same time he promised continued support and cooperation to HiH Af staff.
